Phoenix Canariensis has long, pinnate leaves (fronds) that curve gracefully outward from the center of the plant to form a full, round crown. The leaves are dark green and can become very long in older plants. The stem (stipe) is not yet prominent in young plants, but over time develops a rough texture formed by the remnants of old petioles, contributing to the majestic, robust appearance of the palm.

The Canary Date Palm needs plenty of sunlight and does best in a sunny, well-drained location. It can be placed indoors or outdoors. Indoors: Place the palm in a very bright room, preferably near a south-facing window, where it receives at least 5 hours of direct light per day. Outdoors: In summer, the Phoenix Canariensis thrives perfectly outdoors on a sunny terrace or in the open ground. Although it can tolerate some frost, it is advisable to bring it inside in severe frosts or protect it well.

The Phoenix Canariensis likes moderate watering. Allow the top layer of potting soil to dry out between waterings, especially during the winter months when growth is slower. During the warmer, dry periods (spring and summer), the palm needs more water to support its growth and foliage. Always ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.
