Vinca major 'Alba', also known as the large white periwinkle, is an excellent and popular evergreen ground cover that is highly valued for its robustness and larger leaves. This variety is distinguished by its vigorous growth and bright white flowers, making it the ideal choice for quickly covering shady areas, suppressing weeds, and adding elegance to borders and underplanting.

Vinca major 'Alba' is characterized by its relatively large, heart-shaped leaves with a leathery sheen. In spring, large, star-shaped white flowers appear, contrasting beautifully with the dark green foliage. The plant grows somewhat taller and wilder than its smaller cousin (Vinca minor), with stems that can reach a height of 20 to 30 centimeters before bending back to the ground and rooting. Tip: Because this plant can grow quite vigorously, you can prune it back firmly in the spring if it strays too far from its bed; this also promotes more compact growth and a fresh new start.
