Euonymus japonicus 'Green Spire' is an excellent and popular evergreen shrub, often referred to as the ideal boxwood substitute. This variety is distinguished by its sleek, compact, and upright growth habit (spire/columnar shape), making it perfect for creating low, formal hedges or pruning solitary structures into shape in the garden or in a pot.

Characteristics: The 'Green Spire' retains its glossy, dark green leaves throughout the year, providing continuous structure and color in the garden. It is highly winter hardy (down to approximately-20°C to -23°C), robust, and has the significant advantage of being resistant to box tree moths and box blight, unlike traditional boxwood. Its slow to moderate growth also makes it very easy to maintain; pruning once or twice a year is sufficient to maintain its sleek shape.
