Fargesia 'Moontears'® 'Boobux XL' is an innovative and compact variety of non-invasive bamboo (Fargesia murieliae). This bamboo variety is distinguished by its dense, bushy, and spherical growth, making it ideal for topiary. The name 'Boobux' refers to the fact that this bamboo is an excellent boxwood substitute for hedges or topiary, without the problems associated with the box tree moth.

Characteristics: Moontears is a strong, evergreen, and hardy plant that can withstand very low temperatures (down to approximately -28.9°C). Its biggest advantage is that it is not invasive, which means that it grows in a neat clump and does not need a root barrier. Its compact shape and good pruning tolerance make it multifunctional, suitable for use as a solitary plant, hedge, or ground cover.

Fargesia 'Moontears'® 'Boobux XL' is characterized by its compact, dense, and spherical growth habit. The plant consists of a multitude of narrow, elegant, and fresh green leaves that retain their color throughout the year (evergreen). The stalks are thin and densely packed. Upon delivery, the plant is a full, bushy specimen approximately 70 cm high (including pot), ideal for immediately adding decorative structure to the garden, patio, or even indoors. Due to its easy branching after pruning, the bamboo retains its dense shape. The mature height can reach up to approximately 2 meters.

This bamboo is very versatile and does not have many requirements in terms of location. The plant thrives in a variety of light conditions, from full sun to partial shade and even shade. The most crucial factor is the soil: it must be rich in humus, well-drained, and not waterlogged. Although the plant likes moisture, good drainage is essential to prevent root rot, especially when planted in a pot.

Fargesia 'Moontears' has moderate to high water requirements and generally does not like drought. Ensure that the soil is always slightly moist, but avoid the roots standing in a layer of water for long periods ('wet feet'). Adequate water is crucial, especially during dry periods and in the growth phase. If the plant receives too little water, the leaves will curl and turn yellow. Always ensure that pots have drainage holes and, if necessary, a layer of hydro granules.
